Anyone know the guitar chords for Friction? It's probably real easy but I can't work 'em out!

Tune guitar down two steps (thus strings are DGCFAd)
All chords relative to tuning (ie. "G" is actually F)

Main riff is: G-D-A

Chorus: Play around with:

E* (003020), A-->Asus4, Bm and Em7 (020032)

Hope that helps. Sorry for the guitar geekese.

Stray Dog Bruise
===========

Like basically all of Spit Polish, tune guitar down two steps (DGCFAd).
All chords relative to tuning (ie. "D" means play D shape xx0232, but it'll sound like a C).

This is a pretty rough approximation, but "Stray Dog Bruise" is a two-chord wonder. Just go G-D for the Stones-y riff that's all over the verses.

For the "Don't leave my soul to coast" bits, play around with Am7 (002010) or C9 (032030), followed by Em7 (020032) and then G.

And that's about it really... It sounds OK when I play it.

Paperboy
======

Standard Tuning (EADGBe)

I'll put something out, if I get time/inclination, that's a bit more thorough, but basically it's all around D:

Verses:
"I'm like crackers and mustard...": D
"Just waitin' on your need": Am7 (002013)
"...hollow comfort now": Em7

Pre-Chorus:
"I appreciate that smile I really...": Am7
"... do...": Em7
"But you know it ain't the tactic I'd...": Gmaj7 (3x0032)
"... use": Em7

Chorus:
"...fishin in some...": Gmaj7
"deeper water now": A7sus4 (x02032) --> D
Link: F
"fishin in some...": Em7
"deeper water now": A7sus4 --> D

Middle Eight:
Don't really know it, fiddle around with pretty much the same chords... there's some 7th chords in there too...

Cheers,
Mike

Wild One
======

Yeah the verse chords 'n' stuff are pretty easy, just don't know the intro and outro...

Standard Tuning (EADGBe)

Verses:

If you think...: E
Surely now...: Bm (224432)
When you were looking: A (x02220)
She was fillin: C#m --> C#sus2 (x46644)
With her presence and her: G#
wishes, she was: A (577655)
soaking up you: E
kisses: C#m --> C#sus2
... turn of her: G#
hip: A
But in her mind: D

Only the: A
lover of: B7 (x24242)
wild: C#m
one: D7 (x57575)
know: A

Interlude (the oh oh oh's):
play around with E, Bm, A, C#m and Dmaj7 (xx0222)

That's all I got, good luck

I don't have my gtr on me so if anything's really messed up, sorry.

Well I got an idea.

The guys that put together this website do a friggin great job considerin that they are busy human beans. So how 'bout we all get in and have a crack?

I mean if we post our content on the forum and the guys can fill in the blanks if they think it is worthwhile.

What do other guys & gals think? I for one am just starting out on the guitar so I would be keen for sometoby to get some "easy" tabs up there. And I can do a few lyrics etc.

This may be the worst idea in the history of fucked ideas? Or is it a stroke of genius. Let's do something to make the boys proud.

And because I am only a relatively late starter in the world of You Am I can I politely ask what ever happened to the other site, youami.com? It had some great stuff on there too.

I'm actually planning to devote a lot of my time tabbing in the next year. I'd really like to get a lot of Deliverance out. Someone needs to tab Judge Roy out decently too.

Hey League Guru. Sounds like a good'n to me. I know how to play plenty of songs that are not tabbed on the site, but i got F.A. time at my disposal to tab them properly.

How about if you post the lyrics to any or all of the following songs and I'll fill in the chords n' riffs n' such;

Words For Sadness
Ribbons and Bows
Crash
Fiction
Stray Dog Bruise
The Mess
King of the Hill

Those ones I'm pretty sure i can do off the top of my head. If you have any others put up some lyrics and i (or someone else) will have a go pretty soon.

Deal?

Heres what I sing when Crash comes up on my stereo:

CRASH (DELIVERANCE)
Yeah I got a place
Its hot & its dark
And I just want to burn
Right there in its arms
Somewhere I don?t think
But I float like a can
Caught in a rip
And thrown on back again

I?m stuck in the eye of the storm
And I ain?t looking for a way back
Let me fall
Let it bleed
Just let me crash

So goodbye silence and dreams
Lost in the ether again
If its all the same to you
Just let me crash

And goodbye baby blue
The slowdancing heart you knew
If its all the same to you
Just let me crash

Went out for a drink
Something to warm my bones
Surround my brains in some toons
Shook me down to my toes

However much that I crave
To lose myself in the mess
Stir the poison from sleep
And it comes over again

I?m stuck in the eye of the storm
Can?t find my way back
Let me fall
Let it bleed
Just let me crash

So goodbye silence and dreams
Lost in the ether again
If its all the same to you
Just let me crash
Goodbye baby blue
My slowdancing heart you knew
If its all the same to you
Just let me crash

My sadness hangs like smoke on a jacket
Like rain on a window pane
And it hides behind the pale blues eyes
And it sleeps like I?m cruel, like the stain

Goodbye baby blue
My sweet dancing arms you knew
If its all the same to you
Just let me crash

Bring all your liquors & pills
Cause nothing makin sense on the hill
If its all the same to you
Just let me crash

There are a couple of lines that are not the easiest to hear but I think that is it. Welcome any suggestions.

The easiest way to work out you am i songs on guitar is to be familiar with the various tunings that tim uses on his guitar and also buy a capo (kyser) this will help because the man uses them like lungs and air.

goodnight

Right. I don't have this one completed yet, but since you were so quick with the lyrics i'll give you what i've got and we'll get the rest out shortly thereafter;

CRASH (DELIVERANCE)

Intro/Verse

e|-----------------------3--3--2---|--------------------2--2--2------|
B|-----------------------3--3--3---|--------------------3--3--2------|
G|--2-----2--0--2------0--0--0---|--2-----2--0--2---2------2------|
D|--2^4--2--0--2------0-----0---|--2^4--2--0--2---0------0------|
A|----------------------------------|----------------------------------|
E|--------------------3-------------|----------------------------------|

Yeah I got a place
Its hot & its dark
And I just want to burn
Right there in its arms
Somewhere I don?t (Em)think (/F#note) (G)
But I float like a can (D) (Dmaj7)
Caught in a (C)rip (C/B)
And thrown on back (D)again(Dmaj7)

I?m (F#7)stuck in the eye of the storm
And I ain?t (G) looking for a way back
Let me (Em)fall
Let it (/F#note)(G) bleed
Just let me crash (D)

e|---------------------|
B|--3---0---3--0-----|
G|--2---0---0--0-----|
D|--0---2---0--0-----|
A|------2-------------|
E|------0---1---2--2--|
D,Em,F/G,F#/G

So (G)goodbye silence and (D)dreams
(G)Lost in the ether (D)again
If its (G)all the same to (A)you
Just let me (Em)crash

e|---------------------|
B|--3---0---3--0-----|
G|--2---0---0--0-----|
D|--0---2---0--0-----|
A|------2-------------|
E|------0---1---2--2--|
D,Em,F/G,F#/G

And (G)goodbye baby (D)blue
The (G)slowdancing inge(D)nue
If its (G)all the same to (A)you
Just let me (D)crash

Back to intro/verse riff

That will get you through most of the song. As it turns out i've forgotten the bridge and will have to figure it out again, but i'll get to that sooner or later.

For the record, i am by no means declaring this to be exactly what is played on the record. Certainly in the first couple of bars of the song there is a D note that could only have come from a detuned low E string (ie - dropped-D tuning) but that makes the rest of the song a bit of an arse to play. And I saw Tim play this on a standard tuned guitar a few years ago, so it can work.

Sorry about the tabbed parts not lining up. Anyone know how to fix that?

Enjoy, and keep those lyrics and/or tabs coming.

Cheers

RIBBONS & BOWS (DELIVERANCE)
Words & Music by Tim Rogers

There are a couple of bits where I don't know what he says so help!
I have underlined them

A long ago and whats his name
Spilt out on the road like a bucket of rain
You know I didn?t come to ?cause she knows my mind
?Cause she storms my soul a slip at a time

Lay down your ribbons & bows
And let your hair hang greasy n low
On a gift shop cushion with lights
Like a new state of mind
It?s a new state of mind

She was the newest Mumma with the shortest skirt
(Hey ask him how you know my mind)
I promised never again to tell how it hurt
(?????????????????)

As my mind goes dancing
While the gin picks the tune
Hitch a ride to my wagon
I?ll blink at the moon

Lay down your ribbons & bows
And let your hair hang greasy n low
On a gift shop cushion with lights
Like a new state of mind
It?s a new state of mind

Lay down your ribbons & bows
And let your hair hang greasy n low
On a gift shop cushion with lights
Like a new state of mind
It?s a new state of mind

Lay down your ribbons & bows
?????????????????
I got a joint where we can go
It?s a new state of mind
It?s a new state of mind
It?s a new state of mind
It?s a new state of mind

FICTION (The underated 1st single from the Spit Polish)
Words n Music by Tim R

When you don't know what you're talkin' about
When you're clutching at the straws,
When you need a little collaboration
And get your sweaty hands in her drawers

You need a little a fiction baby
A little east european trip
A little fiction man
Get your head out of the shit

Dig that boy, get that husky throat
And that bloody mary smile
And the girl with the lines beneath her eyelids
Just servin' for a poetic crime

They got fiction baby
Go to the back of the bus
We got fiction man
Now tell me who do I trust?

Oh quit it!

This country used to warm my chest
A memory like a fur-lined coat
But the living-room racists and couch bum potatoes
Got me scrubbing up in the dust

And I swallowed it up as if it was enough
to keep the
But the nerves in my gut were saying something was up
And now keeping my eyes from my feet

Now it's christmas time - say yer prayers for peace
There's only one source for this shit so deep
You build your walls up high enough
And lifestyle TV when the going gets tough

They're throwing kids in the drink - right!
A little fiction baby
A lie n a black hole!

Bring it on
Bring it on

And the elusive bridge to Crash;

My (C)sadness hangs like (C)smoke on a jacket
Like (B/C)rain on a window pane
And it (G)hides behind the pale blues eyes
And it (Em)sleeps like I?m cruel, like the (A)stain

The solo is played over the chorus chords;

G-D, G-D, G-A, Em...(D, Em, F/G, F#/G)

Back to the chorus.

And I think the that last line might be "and sleeps light and cruel, like it's stayin'"

For Ribbons and Bows

"On a gift shop cushion we lie" makes more sense (not many cushions have lights)

Also think it's "I'll bring you the moon" from memory
Lean on me til I break
